Can you stand and pray with us for 90 minutes today (Sunday, October 20)? Join Christians from various denominations from 2 to 3:30 pm along Highway 178 in downtown Bakersfield.
Some are concerned about construction and road closures in the area, but we will not allow these problems to stop the Life Chain! While 23rd Street may be jammed because of the construction, only one block might be closed (between E and F Streets). Nevertheless, the resulting traffic jam will likely give many motorists an opportunity to reflect upon our signs, or even to join us in prayer as they pass by, asking God to lead us to end all abortions in our community and nation and to protect every mother and child.
If a meeting location was announced during your worship services, please go to the specific location designated for your congregation. Otherwise, come to the corner of 24th and H Streets. Resources will be available at this location, including pro-life T-shirts, literature, and books. Free bumper stickers will also be available (one per family, while supplies last).
This is not only an opportunity to take a stand for God and Life today, but the Life Chain is primarily intended as an opportunity for you to pray that God will lead you personally into participating in efforts to end abortion, to the glory of God. Our resource table at 24th and H will help you see how to get involved.
For many years, our Octobers were focused on a 24-hour 40-day Life Vigil outside the FPA abortion chamber at 25th & H. However, this year we did not receive enough commitments from vigil volunteers. If you are willing to consider committing to participate in a future vigil, please use our vigil sign up form to let us know what you might be willing to do.
If you are driving to the Life Chain today from the south or north, we recommend that you access the Life Chain from Chester Avenue or H Street (being sure to avoid F Street). If you are coming from the west, we recommend that you avoid Highway 178 (use Golden State or Truxtun to reach Chester or H).
If you are willing to volunteer to help us manage today’s Life Chain, please send a text to Tim at 661-412-2291.
